What therapeutic approach do you use?

As a Clinical Therapist, my work is grounded in providing clinical interventions and therapeutic approaches to help clients grow a deeper understanding of themselves and address their challenges.

I work from a trauma-informed, emotion-focused, and humanistic lens. I incorporate a range of therapeutic modalities with evidence-based approaches, such as compassion focused therapy, somatic therapy, emotion focused therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and cognitive behavioural therapy to help you address and develop skills to face your challenges.

  • emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a humanistic, evidence-based approach, drawing primarily from attachment theory to facilitate the creation of secure, vibrant connection with self and others.

Rooted in the science of emotions and attachment, EFT helps clients identify and transform the negative processing and interaction patterns that create distress.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a comprehensive multi-diagnostic, modularized behavioral intervention designed to treat individuals with severe mental disorders and out-of-control cognitive, emotional and behavioral patterns. It has been commonly viewed as a treatment for individuals meeting criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) with chronic and high-risk suicidality, substance dependence or other disorders. However, over the years, data has emerged demonstrating that DBT is also effective for a wide range of other disorders and problems, most of which are associated with difficulties regulating emotions and associated cognitive and behavioral patterns.

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy tools can help you deal with overwhelming challenges in a practical and positive way by breaking down your experience into your thoughts, feelings, physical symptoms, and actions. The understanding is that unhelpful thoughts and feelings can create a vicious cycle that we can often feel confined by.

  • The Gottman Method aims to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
